What Happens When Hair Gets Damaged?

Healthy Hair is always the goal

BC9319-001The moisture content of hair is what keeps it smooth and supple, and the main factors in its ability to retain moisture are the specific properties of amino acids. When the chain is degenerated, dehydration takes place….causing the hair to lose elasticity, strength and gloss.

Frequently, I get nervous I am speaking and concentrating on ‘hair color’ solely, remember NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN HEALTHY HAIR . NOTHING.

I want every single person that follows Killer Strands creed to check over those 14 steps once monthly (every single month of the year!), and exactly like ‘dieting’ -- you will come to a plateau – when you do and you are jones-ing for another burst in the health or growth lengthvis319989 of your hair. I hope you will step up to the plate and take on another step, I have watched many a client do this, and watched it pleasantly surprise themselves (and me), once again.

As a matter of fact just this week a close girlfriend decided to begin forcing 1 liter of water down her throat - - daily. She has always complained “ I hate the taste of water”. . . . as so many do.

6497-000172

Its about time I come clean ……. I used to have that exact same feeling, until I took on the challenge of forcing 80 oz ( 2 liters) down my throat every single day for 2 weeks. Sound gross? It is. I’m not going to lie and tell you how wonderful it is, how fun and easy it is….nope miserable - - absolutely miserable. It involves downing a full glass of water every half hour > all day long. Yep, GROSS….Big Time.

But…….and this is a very big ‘but’ !! …just like I had read in a hair chemistry book, once you begin drinking large amounts of water - -your body goes through changes and there will come a time where it all changes and your body becomes used to this large amount of water, it begins to crave it. You don’t have to think about ‘forcing it down’, your body tells you to take a big 8 oz glass of water nearly every 1-2 hours of the day ! It was no longer an effort, it becomes “normal”…completely NORMAL. It was absolutely amazing to me, I don’t think most of us know what the feeling truly is of “severe thirst” or even ‘thirst’ at all – we are so fortunate to be surrounded by thousands of liquid drinks – and to not have to worry about where or when our next gulp of water or juice is coming from.

skd184375sdc When was the last time you truly felt - - “THIRST”??. We are such a busy-busy nation of people most of the people I speak to don’t slow down enough to think about thirst, they find drinking water a chore, instead of a necessity of a healthy life. I found that most interesting, to go from not liking it…….to craving it - - - just the wonders of the HEALTHY human body always shock me. That is why I truly encourage you to try this, watch how much adding water – just adding water to your ‘daily intake’ changes your skin, your bodily functions and more importantly - - YOUR HAIR! ! I find it also amazing that people will take on these challenges when their hair is involved…but whatever works to open peoples eyes.

To draw a current parallel that may make it easier for you to understand how much our bodies need water to run perfectly, I want to use some of the strong – unbelievable stories of Haitians that have been pulled out of the rubble in the big Haiti Earthquake. Have you seen the little boy that was buried for 8 days under layers of cement blocks, pulled out . . . what was his main problem ?? He was dehydrated, exactly what I am talking about in hair health - - dehydration is disastrous for the hairs health and the body – it can literally - bluntly > kill you. 102207a So, if not having enough water in your body can kill you, can you see the parallel and how important it must be for something so simple as your HAIR growth ? ?Hair needs a healthy body to grow from, one of my most common quotes is: “Your hair is the first indication of your health”, I know my clients don’t listen to me because I have said this one sentence for years…but I honestly truly mean it. I cannot tell you the illnesses that a doctor diagnosis a patient where hair thinning and hair loss is one of the first indications of many serious diseases. So remember that, all physicians use hair thinning/loss as a very common sign of looming illness.

Anderson Cooper highlighted this little 5 year old boy – “Monley” on CNN (ya gotta love Anderson), he lost everyone in his family so AC was hoping someone in the USA might offer to adopt him {if you have any interest in this please contact CNN}

They showed footage of him being pulled out after being buried for 8 days, his skin was dry and dehydrated his stomach was distended he looked as though he might not make it. They got an IV in him immediately, the footage of him 2 days later was a true miracle. An IV has mainly WATER in it – and Dr.Gupta was saying that was the main thing needed to save him…is that not a crystal clear picture of what not enough water in your body can do ??? I hope this story rings true to you, touches your soul and inspires you to “ give WATER a chance”

Drinking water is a necessity. Don’t take advantage of the amount your body needs to operate properly. I have had so many women tell me that they sleep better, they have less headaches, their skin glows, their dry/itchy skin problems subside, give it 30 days. I have received hundreds of postive reports about drinking massive amounts of water - - -across the board. And no, in 2 weeks your hair won’t be shiny BUT, in 6-8 weeks it may, Hair is made up of water, if you don’t give it water – and LOTS OF, it is not living up to its potential.

a0083-000117

What I am pushing here is a permanent return to drinking 8-10 glasses per day – only starting with twice that is my recommendation. Fill up a liter bottle of Evian, or whatever brand suits you…personally I found the least expensive way to drink that much water was to pay for a reverse osmosis system on my kitchen sink. It treats my drinking water so it tastes EXACTLY and contains EXACTLY what Evian or any of the bottled waters out there do. Its a wonderful system, you just need to call your local water treating company and get prices from 3-4 companies on reverse osmosis treatment. Here in LA for 1 month it is $18.50 - for an endless supply of excellent water, I feel that is reasonable and better than purchasing cases of bottles…you know all the plastic & RECYCLING problems, etc. Its approx. $200 to purchase which is what I hope to do some day. This is what my unit under my sink looks like….. it is small & compact…

a0d59cf2-b00b-4075-9ec2-bcbdf276dfdf_300 I feel with my new massive amount of water I drink - - I needed a reasonable answer or I would talk myself out of it! That is kind of how I teach my clients each step of 10,000HEADS, I solve the little problems of each step personally, then give them the easiest solution. That way when I quiz them, I have an answer for every question, & that is the way I like my education > from first hand knowledge.

I can admit my clients have all had a bit of fear.. showing up for random appointments…I watch them squirm and kick myself for being so stern sometimes. They will sit down in the chair, and in 5-6 weeks I can touch their hair and just simply ask, ‘what happened this month?’ and the squirm becomes a small sweat…they will have gotten lazy with of one of their “trigger” steps. Which means, I have found that almost every person has 2-3 steps, out of the 14 that are their own personal “TRIGGER Steps” the steps that are what made the biggest difference in their hair. At times it will take 2 months before I notice although there are many times I will notice it, in a month.

My recognition of Trigger deficiencies comes from my zest for the art of healthy hair, I’m not sure I have ever found another Stylist that was/is as involved in producing healthy hair as I am. Many thought me nutty, I bet many of you feel the same. It began a year or 2 after graduating from Sassoon, the idea was born from the Academy as they cram “healthy hair” down your throat – D A I L Y. As far as I am concerned – there was good reason for everything I learned from that school It was one of the most inspiring, and worthwhile educations of my lifetime and I also am a College Grad.on top of everything else. Learning about life and health and beauty at that school was insanely expensive but worth every last cent.

The skin, hair and muscles of your body are composed almost entirely of protein and water. How can so many seemingly different structures be made of the same substance? The answer lies in the building blocks of proteins, known as amino acids. As the name indicates, amino acids contain an amine group and an acid group. These groups are both attached to the same carbon. It is the combination of the different amino acids (in some cases millions) that decides what particular protein we will end up with.

High on the list of causes of hair degeneration is the variety of chemicals found in the beauty salon although more importantly their handling is the key. Which is why I write on this blog day in and day out. Trying to train you all in the proper manner how to repair and how to apply color in the proper manner. Examples include permanent wave solutions that are too strong, over-processed or incompletely neutralized. So many do not take the steps seriously. I am a fanatic of ‘all the steps a procedure take”, most Stylists let their guard down and begin eliminating steps from RELAXERS, BLEACH & TONES, and on and on. This is what begins the road to damaged hair, eliminating Steps to a procedure.

In today's world of 2010 hair we possess the knowledge to properly and without damage:

  • Color Hair
  • Curl Hair
  • Straighten Hair permanently
  • Bleach Hair
  • Add Extensions to Hair
  • Darken Hair
  • Tint Red Hair
  • Crazy Color Hair
  • Tease Hair
  • Style Hair
  • Remove Hair Color
  • Fill Hair
  • Wave Hair
  • Braid Hair
  • Tone Hair

…..do every single procedure in this list TO HAIR…. IN A totally HEALTHY MANNER. Never let a hair stylist tell you different. (I’m sure I’ve forgotten some procedures)

This is 100%TRUTH

I want all of my readers and crib colorists to know this, to all know that it IS possible. I ran my entire career never dropping one step, I added 3 steps, and time to another. Don’t worry - - my Assistants all thought I was nuts as well – I always hoped they took my vision to their own careers. I could tell good assistants from bad by their reaction toward adding steps to a procedure. I made them all carry a neck timer to set on every procedure they were on during a day (yes, they hated it - but its a great lesson)

89731055 A relaxer is the most crucial, and dangerous hair application a Stylist will ever undertake I would say 75% (at least) will not even do them, most are afraid. They don’t teach them in general HAIR SCHOOLS, I only had a week of training in the Academy, but it hit me - - to be the exclusive Malibu Stylist performing them, all you stylists reading this, I highly recommend you adding it to your repertoire ( remember only add it on if you will do ALL of the steps and not drop one of the many stepped procedure) it is the most rewarding as well as the most time consuming.

The knowledge is there to successfully apply every hair procedure above without causing one ounce of damage to the hair. The problem comes when individuals begin cutting short and cutting OUT the steps needed to turn out a healthy-strong- beautiful head of hair.

The human body produces proteins day in and day out to build and repair its structures. Amino Acids are linked together in protein structures by the peptide linkage. In the case of hair, the structure is that of Keratin. Keratin is composed of 18% cysteine. This is important because additional bonds known as disulfide bonds occur between the sulfur atoms in 2 peptide chains, offering great structural strength. The natural colorant of the hair is another protein, a protein known as: melanin ( I am hoping you notice how important it is for you to have protein, along with water… in your diet daily ). I try to make this simple, yet, it is not a simple subject. Remember to keep reading over and over, it will eventually sink in….that is exactly how I learned these slippery subjects.

Other negative factors are the action of all the various hot tools, flat irons, crimpers, rollers, anything heated even blow dryers. Heat is the hairs worst enemy. Sea air and salt water which leave a crystalline residue of salt that has a drying effect on the hair. Denatured alcohol is the bad alcohol, be sure your products do not contain that and especially not at the beginning of the Ingredient list {means it is the highest percentage in the formula}.This is now a perfect spot for reviewing the 14 Steps of 10,000HEADS, each one will show you what damages hair.

10,000 heads - 14 STEPS - 01-01-10 Which brings us full circle to City tap water, which is usually high in calcium and trace minerals can leave a whole array of deposits affecting both the condition of the hair and FUTURE PROCESSING ; not to mention the negative effects that chlorine, central heating systems, air pollution, wind and excessive sunlight have on the condition of the hair. design039856

The explanations given about atoms, molecules, mixtures and hair color are not an attempt to provide a speed course in chemistry. These are given to raise the awareness of just how sophisticated the chemicals we use are and to strongly dissuade anyone from “KITCHEN CHEMISTRY” { a term I had never heard before my voyage into the art of Blog writing}.

Learn as much as you can about the chemicals and products you use, what is chemically possible to do, and what you can reasonably expect. Then as I always say…..CHOOSE THE BEST TOOL FOR THE JOB.

Remember Chemicals do not make mistakes…….

The End is Split, My Dear.

Split Ends and The Tricks

I'm going to start writing shorter posts, here and there, on shorter subjects that I wouldn't write about previously because I thought there was enough info on it. . .I must stop worrying about that

sb10068424v-001

Split Ends

Now this is a subject there is NOT a lot of info on - there truly isn't. I have seen a few commercials that would have you believe shampoo can prevent split ends, I had to put my 2 cents in on that. The only way to deal with them is too cut the damn things off . There is this silly commercial that says split ends can be taken care of by shampoo . Shampoo is on your hair for what a minute - maybe - MAX ? Something on your hair for a minute cannot solve a whole lotta anything, do not fall for that type of thing........ ever.

Split ends occur, when the protective layer of the cuticle is removed from the tip of the strand. As a result, the hair splits into two or three strands, each two to three centimeters long, at its tip.

Some of the causes of split ends?

  • not getting haircut
  • hair being cut with a razor
  • having fine hair
  • constant electrical tool use
  • putting hair back with damaging elastics
  • brushing hair wet

The ways to prevent split ends? Get your hair trimmed regularly, by regularly I mean ...every 6-8 weeks for shorter hair - every 10-12 weeks for long hair. With the way split ends are formed, I had certain clients that just had them way more than others. I started with an oil treatment of a couple fine oils back then . . . and now I use GLEAM , Killer Strands own OIL treatment, the results are spectacular. I have been using exotic oil treatments since I began working on hair, exotic oils work such wonders on hair you just will never know until you try them. (You are able to purchase GLEAM, on the side bar)getty882

You need to cut split ends off as soon as you notice them . . . they will just keep splitting up the hair strand and if you didn't want your hair cut before you are going to be super sad when it continues splitting up that strand shorter and shorter. Think about your regular maintenance routine and try to identify why your hair is splitting. Hopefully you will notice what is the reason, the list is pretty defining.

Sleep On It :Applying Hair Conditioners to Strands While You Lay Back & Relax

Rejuvenate lackluster tresses while sleeping, an idea others are finally catching on to

Lately, I've started to notice many articles and NEW hair products that are touting my long time remedy coined the "SLUMBER PARTY". Where by one takes the deep conditioner, in Killer Strander's case: "THRIVEN" (which lately we've added GLEAM to the mixture)... applying it, and sleeping with the conditioner in overnight. Therefore giving the conditioner a full 6-8 hours to work its magic, something I came up with about 15 years ago when I first hit the floor of the Salon on my own. I should have known I couldn't keep it forever . . . and should be grateful it took mainstream media/hair manufacturers this long to figure it out.

My reason for the idea ? As most of my ideas are . . . common sense. I just love common sense. I was always fortunate enough to be associated with Hollywood Insiders and all the advantages ( and disadvantages) that came along with them, both on a personal and business level.  Although I will say that this one idea was right out of my teeny tiny brain. Being in Malibu and right next to a college (Pepperdine) . . . I had plenty of 16-30 year olds with super bad hair damage that wanted it cured... so they could go right back and do it all over again!!  Which set me on a path right from the beginning of trying to figure out a solution to damaged hair, the thinning & loss issue didn't show its ugly head for another 6-7 years. Which, by the way - - this solution worked for all 3 issues - -  solidly!

When I first studied the beginnings of Cosmetic Chemistry . . . it takes you down the path of the make-up of a hair strand . . . and the make-up of the skin  - what both are made-up of - all the way down to its molecular structure. . . I won't bore you with the particulars . . . what I will tell you about, that I still find fascinating -  is that the make-up of a hair strand and the make up of the skin itself are almost identical . . . every single thing I read in those first few months just kept telling me how the hair strand prospered and thrived off of all the same things as  facial skin did. Moisture, Condition . . . all the same. . . both the skin and the hair strand thrived when the same foods were eaten, when loads of water were consumed, when smoking was halted, the sun was eliminated. . .all the 12 STEPS of 10,000 HEADS!  . . .and here you thought I was pulling those things out of the air! Nope, all of it is scientifically proven.  Its just no one has ever sat down and written it out. . . till me - I guess. Still blows me away - I will never understand - why!  My point being... as I read over and over how the health of the hair strand AND the skin were so similar . . . I started to think how we moisturized and cared for our skin. So much of beauty technology is focused on our skin, when I feel they should put at least 1/2 of the focus  - - on the hair. So many people would do what ever they could to have gorgeous healthy hair...which I feel is very very possible.

What do we do with our expensive face creams? I'm sure most of you have at one time or another bought yourself one - expensive night cream - whether it be the OLAY's of the world. . . which are locked up at the local Drug store for $30.00 a jar  . . . all the way to the 16 ounce jar of Le Mer Creme they have Neiman Marcus this Christmas for $1630.00 Neiman Marcus - Le Mer Creme- no typo there boys and girls!! Which by the way I have seen many a clinical trial that puts those 2 creams on the EXACT same "results" level !  Back to the point . . . What do we do with those expensive creams?    Because they are so expensive we want to follow directions explicitly - to get the most out of it . . . right?   So we wash our faces really well, then apply the cream carefully to the entire face. Go to sleep and let the work begin . . . We swear when we wake up every penny of that money we spent was well worth it. RIGHT ???

Therefore to me (here's the common sense) I thought. . . if they are telling us to do that to our faces with these really expensive face creams. . . Once I had my pretty expensive Hair conditioner. . .  which by the way is made with many of the same ingredients they put in expensive face creams ( another common sense move on my part - I mean if they are both so similar - why not - right?) I decided why not give hair the same advantage that our facial skin got... WASH the hair so it was all clean and ready to absorb the goodies in the hair conditioner, which is what you are instructed to do on the THRIVEN package . . . towel dry the hair, then apply THRIVEN, and go to sleep. So it could work exactly the same as really expensive night creams were given the chance to. Sleep is the only time when the hair has between 7 & 8 hours without any external aggressors such as UV rays, heat styling, brushing at work. PLUS... and this is really my reason for picking it at the time . . .the cell renewal process is at its busiest when you're resting (which means when the cells renew to produce more "new hair" growth) so the key ingredients of overnight products can work to their maximum potential. While sleeping your skin and your scalp repair themselves, fixing the damage of the day. So, it makes sense to boost this natural restoration process with an overnight treatment to enhance the effect. OF COURSE!

Thus. . .  the SLUMBER PARTY method of hair treatment was born nearly 15 years ago from > yours truly. How and why all of sudden numerous companies are coming out with their versions of Overnight conditioners. . . seem extraordinarily funny to me. . . but just for my own satisfaction I thought for once I would point out this one similarity.  Doesn't matter to me, I have a lot of people on 10,000HEADS and when I say I want you all to help me spread the word I can honestly say it comes from the bottom of my heart. I am only looking to spread the advantage of having healthy - strong hair to the rest of the world . .  that's all. Very simple - Very Easy. The protocol is up here on the web site. . .and to purchase THRIVEN is one click away to the right here, on the Side bar . .  for both sizes. . . and with THRIVEN comes the info on the Secret Supplement and how to incorporate it into your life. But I wanted you to see exactly how I came up with the theory of how to use THRIVEN - and how important that overnight therapy and treatment is.

Some Killer Stranders get lazy about THRIVEN overnight application and I get concerned about that. One way of making it not such a "project". . I have found? By doing the shampoo and application earlier in the evening - like around 5-6 PM.. Then let the product dry all the way into your hair by itself or every hour you can shoot it with the hair dryer for a few minutes to help speed it up. So by the time you go to bed its completely dry, that way you don't need the plastic cap, nor the towel , nor anything - plus the smell of it is so pleasant and when its all the way dry, you hardly notice its there. That has become an easier way to deal with the overnight application some have found. Everything must be kept up to acquire all the great advantages that come with the Protocol.  I think one of the things that make me the happiest, is when I get an email from one of the newer members of the group or just the site ... after they have been very religious about following the Regimen for the first  30-60-90 days. . .and they are blown away. . . and on Cloud 9... it really is the most rewarding feeling that after all those years of studying and learning and formulating . . . to actually make such a difference in people's lives. It gives me a teeny tiny feeling of what a physician must feel like when they cure a disease, a cancer or fix a broken bone. . .Wow, I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a doctor, I finally see why they become one, for the rewarding feeling.

An overnight hair conditioner gives that conditioner time to properly penetrate the hair shaft, which will restore the hair's natural radiance. . . maybe that will give you the kick in the butt you need to give this a shot.  I mean the only hesitancy I can think of might come from a partner. . . and for that I am going to put it to you . . . what ways can you think of to use if you think your partner might balk at this idea? Use the COMMENTS section to suggest some ideas for those that might have issues with their partners, what can  you suggest?

Or is that even a problem - in retrospect. . . . ? ? ?

The Newest Designer Drug > The " FLAT IRON "

Bottle the Blow
Trash the ...'-tini's '
Hang-up the Hooka. . .

Today's Tweeners are on a rampage and it's a bit more than 'hair raising' to say the least.
If nothing is done and soon, the last thing they will have left
is not their hair . . .

There is a new drug out there,
that is invading the lives of our daughters, girlfriends, sisters, nieces and for me: clients.

I am starting to consider the Flat Iron a Drug

( clarification : FLAT IRON is the proper term for what many refer to as an electrical hair
"straightener" within the professional world of hair: Flat Iron is the Proper Term)

That is a very big Statement: I do realize.

With the tremendous surge in Flat Iron sales in the past couple years, as is with all new "wonder drugs", we have abusers, addicts and a whole new crop of wild and out-of-control problems.

HAIR LOSS & Irreparable hair damage being the most poignant.

ts gotten to such a degree that I am about to call a couple magazines as I cannot reach the people that need to be reached in the infancy of this blog and I feel it that important to our youth.

I call it FIA...or Flat Iron Addiction.
So lets see who will get this important story out there.

I get a minimum of 12 letters every single day from girls that "cannot figure out why all their hair is breaking off ".. . . The weird part is they do not even put it together. . . the flat ironing and the breakage. But I guess a good addict doesn't know that next pipe hit is bad for them either. Part of my fascination comes from the amount of time they spend doing this one thing. Finally one 17 year old client who's hair went from absolutely demolished and breaking off to silky and thick in the course of only 60 days with 10,000HEADS....I was able to ask and get a decent response,
"how much time were you spending flat ironing?"
"4-5 hours she figured - it IS summer !"
I am not exaggerating here...... I asked her what she does with her time now....
She got a Job.
Please people we need to wake up to this little whirlwind we are all missing.
I see this as an OCD type of a problem . . . but I am not a therapist and that is not my expertise, I am merely here to point out the issue, so we can all start to watch for it.

For my contribution.... I am encouraging all of you to go back to the good ole blow dryer and brush.... and no need to do it every day....a couple days a week will be just fine.
Please, write me if you have concerns at all in this arena...for anyone.

Please know I am not trying to be a nag. Remember my Tag Line,
"I care about your hair" and I do ...truly care.

Yesterday I had one of my old regular clients stop by, her hair was horrendous.Just horrendous. I take this hair thing so serious that it makes me ill.. for the remainder of the day when I see someone in clinic with hair like this. I know its only going to get worse unless she changes a few things and fast. The really sad part? She is 26. 10 years ago this was not happening and especially not at that age.

I had to put her on the most strictest of programs and she was upset...and now I know why I haven't seen her in a while. I am merely trying to help and prevent all of you from having to go through what I see is going to be a HUGE problem very very soon.

The mission of my 3 Blogs is to share and relay the information of one of the top Hair Experts in the country with the public in 2 main areas. My goal is to reach most of America and share with them the knowledge of how to color their hair . . .just the same as if they were "baking a cake". There has never been any guidance or release of knowledge or book guiding women of America on how to care for the color of their hair. Not everyone has access to $250. highlights and I propose to change that and make thorough, accurate hair color advice and education available to those who want to learn.

Hair Color Kits Destroy hair, there is no way they can put in one box kit the proper ingredients. Hair Color is a science and chemistry just like cooking is. It is no harder than cooking,...it just has never been taught or a book written and produced for the women and men of America. If one Hair color book was written with the basic rules and laws included there would be thousands of women able to color their hair at home - correctly. (There are plenty of women that will still want to have a Colorist do it for them and plenty of tricks only they can do... just like a master Chef.)

But the 'basics of hair coloring just like "cooking" should be made available to the general public of America.

My last goal with the blogs will be to attempt to solve, slow down or even stop all the Hair loss I see running rampant in this country. I've always seen it in men....but never this young and this pronounced. The amount of women popping up with it now...would blow every single person reading this away. I see it everyday and still can not and WILL NOT get "used to it"..especially when I know I can make a difference.

Healthy-Thick Hair is By-Product of YOGA

The Practice of YOGA cures more than most realize. . . . .

The practice of Yoga has shown to radically improve all 4 of the hair loss issues; hair loss/hair thinning/hair fall and hair damage.

In the last year the amount of calls to the clinic for FEMALE hair loss consultations more than quadrupled.

The amount of women complaining about the hair loss4 is at an all time record high and is multiplying - daily. The issue of hair loss with women is a completely different animal than for men.

Men lose hair first in two places: at the top of the head and at the hairline (receding hairline) and as it advances the two eventually meet, that does not happen to women.

Women have diffuse hair loss.
Meaning a gradual - even - overall loss, the entire head of hair 'lessens'.

The 'way' in which the hair is lost on women is different... so the solutions are different.

The entire head of hair has lost hair strands so the overall 'thickness' is less. The size of the ponytail is smaller, the amount of hairs found in the brush drastically increase.

The # 2 Solution to healthy thick hair ?

YOGA...........
the amount of time you spend "upside down" is the reason for the improvement in clients hair that practice YOGA. Many of the postures and stances have the body in an inversion. We require Yoga, as a condition of signing up with Killer Strands for female hair loss issues, the 3rd Step of the program is "STRESS" and relief of it. We have run a couple Clinical Trials and YOGA has proven to be one of the best solutions to hair health problems.

There are many reasons YOGA works for the health of your hair, but the number 1 reason is the amount of time you spend upside down. With your blood being forced to the head, it gives the follicle and hair bulb much needed nourishment. For your entire life you are in the upright position...your blood has to work much harder going up to the head. I have run tests on clients follicles before starting YOGA and after....when observed under a microscope the difference in the health of the hair strand, follicle and bulb is truly remarkable. The bulb appears pink and healthy after 6 months of YOGA practice....before the practice the follicle was starting to wither away and appeared as though the hair was diminishing away... 6 months of YOGA changed the entire look of the follicle and bulb.

This is one of the easier solutions to having healthy thick hair, although women still want a pill or plastic surgery, I'm convinced it's human nature to want a 'quick-fix'.

Personally, I find YOGA the single best and most brilliant answer to female hair loss. Its not only good for the hair, its good for the body, mind and spirit .

Yoga relaxes and can be life-changing for many people. Just this month I had one of my tougher cases of thinning hair on a 52 year old female client. She was given the 10,000HEADS Healthy Hair Program a year ago, and was following 8 out of the 10 steps (its rare to get someone to actually commit to all 10 steps - the more the better). She was not following Steps 3 and 10 which are "Stress" and the "Secret Weapon Supplement". Under the category of stress it is required that a yoga practice a minimum of 3 days per week be started. This woman's work is extremely stressful ... the step she needed most, was the one she was not doing. Following just the 8 steps had stopped her from losing anymore hair, so she was pretty happy with just those results. About 10 weeks ago she took her first yoga class....3 weeks ago - I was dumbfounded when she came in. Her hair (finally) did a complete 180... not only is it a completely different texture, she has at least twice the amount of hair she used to have, YOGA was her 'trigger-point' .You have never seen a more happy hair client than this woman, thanking me a million and one times she is thrilled with YOGA. Everyone has a 'trigger-point'...which is the trigger to what started that particular person's hair health decline. There is no way to actually know what a person's is, 85% of female trigger points are covered by the 10 Steps of 10,000HEADS HEALTHY HAIR PROTOCOL.
