The Case Against Hair Conditioner

Why your Hair is Better off without it

889933-001

This means the "Daily Hair Conditioner" The 10,000 HEADS daily hair care regimen is this:

  • Shampoo 3-4 times per week w/ Sulfate-Free Shampoo with 2 ways to follow:
  • #1) 60% of you will be able to go 'without' any thing at all after your shampoo. Your hair doesn't tangle, you just have been conditioned to 'think' you need conditioner (ha ha ) just give it a 2 week try. OR
  • #2) If your hair tangles as much as mine does & step 1 scares you, a good lightweight Spray De-tangler is your answer,I found this a very long time ago, its amazing http://killerstrands.myshopify.com/products/formulas-ecoly-tri-wheat-leave-in-conditioner-detangler - plain & simple it detangles, & it does not build-up on the hair, its the consistency of water.
  • #3) Deep condition 1-2 nights per week with Thriven
  • #4) Gleam - 1-2 squirts daily

and that's it.

The 10,000 HEADS Hair Strengthen System is a strange regimen to new members of our system of hair care, but to look at our Sales the numbers have spoken. SLS-Free Shampoo with NO conditioner, seems to be a hot idea this summer, and many are wondering even how this theory - came to be. I mean haven't you been using the 1-2 step of Shampoo - - Conditioner for most of your life? What gives with getting rid of trusty Step 2 they want to know -- why should we?OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The answer I am pretty sure you will see, was another of my accidental "discoveries". . . which Killer Strands is full of. As soon as I made this discovery I never used a daily conditioner again & stopped using them on my clients which was instrumental in the birth of 10,000HEADS and its STEPS. 0005med561033

You need to understand Cosmetic Chemistry in order to make the Formula for a shampoo, the formula for a lip gloss, a perfume, a body lotion or cream and yes, also to make all hair products. Cosmetic Chemistry knowledge and experience is necessary to understand the rights and wrongs of making these products.

hair036-1

I began my cosmetic chemistry experience focusing mainly on what I thought were 2 categories, Hair Conditioners and Body Lotions. Hair conditioners for work and body lotions for myself. I had never been able to find a decent Conditioner for my clients that I wasn't continually having to clarify their hair from (I'm talking Pre-Thriven, Pre- 10,000HEADS, remember) and wanted a very moisturizing body cream/Lotion for my horrific painful dry skin, I just could not seem to find. 0009moom

Those were my initial 2 goals to seek - - - and conquer - - - 1 personal & 1 professional.

First you start learning some solid elementary examples that workbooks give you. Purchase the ingredients & make a product that is already a proven success. Learning along the way... many little weird things about the formula and how exactly to make it.... was a Trip at first I was so afraid I was going to end up as the "MAD SCIENTIST" with bubbles and things blowing up right and left {didn't happen} - things ended up just fine. To be honest, Cosmetic Chemistry is not near as difficult as I imagined. Looking at a formulation at the beginning was daunting - I was sure this was going to be impossible for me to learn. But it wasn't and ended up being just the most fun and rewarding of any sport/hobby/job I have ever taken up - I love it - I wish I had more time to be developing new and cool products. I remembered being terrified of Chemistry in High School & College....doing this, I LOVED IT. It was so satisfying to develop a product that worked so perfectly... I would continue to 'make' products that were wonderful AND "effective' finally to use...you could compare it to buying a cake in the grocery store compared to making a home baked cake from scratch. There simply is no comparison. That was, and remains, the difference in home made products versus manufactured products to me. a0178-000036

Now the interesting part of this experimenting that I'm hoping will show many of you "WHY" Hair conditioners are a horrible product to put on your hair, I did not realize it at first. It took a couple months, and only had to do with the manner in which I work and what my 1 -- 2 interests, were.

I want to show you a Formula to make a Body Lotion, its one of the very first ones I made and tweaked to my liking. I have made well over 70 Hair Conditioners, and still am making them. I love it and it is "fun" for me now.

Now check out this formula for a good body lotion. Its not greasy, AT ALL, it lasts all day or night.

Body LOTION #13

Part A

  • Distilled Water ………………….81%
  • Glycerin …………………………. 1.5%
  • Hydrolyzed Soy Protein ……...... 2.0%

Part B

  • BTMS................ .....………...… 5.0%
  • Jojoba Oil ……….......……….... 4.0%
  • Shea Butter ………………….….6.0%

Part C

  • Optiphen ………………………. .04%

Fragrance or Essential Oil (optional)

the DIRECTIONS are:

Directions: Heat Part A to 75C/170F . Carefully heat Part B until melted. Add Part A to B with mixing. Continue to mix until cool. At 50C/122F (or less), add Part C with mixing

The directions are pretty simple, the only hard part? . . . is the mixing part. It has to be mixed with a high power STICK BLENDER, for a couple hours and stopped and started at just the right temperature. But that isn't difficult, just boring.

All these exact same procedures ( temperatures & mixing) go into making a Hair Conditioner

This is a bare bones formula for a body lotion, but what I discovered is, it's wonderful - better than any Lotion I had ever used, and look how simple it is. I hope you see why I get so upset when there are 55 ingredients in a list when one of the big manufacturing companies make shampoos. 7/8 of them are totally unnecessary . They think they are making a better product - - this is a better product!

Here is the formula to a

Hair Conditioner:

Part A

  • Distilled Water …………………………83%
  • Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein ….........…. 2.4%
  • Panthenol ………………………… …. 2.0%

Part B

  • BTMS………………………………..… 5.5%
  • Abyssinian Oil .……………………….. 2.0%
  • Rose Hips Seed Oil ….......……......... 2.0%
  • Shea Butter....................................... 2.0%

Part C

  • Optiphen ………....................……… 0.3%

The Directions are EXACTLY the same as the above directions.

>This is called is an Emulsion. > Both Body Lotions and Hair Conditioners are the exact same Class in the cosmetic chemistry industry. >Both are emulsions. >That is what I realized that really shook me up as I hope it will you as well.

0001 jergens00001 lube

Would you take that bottle of Lubriderm body lotion, and pour it all over your hair right after your shampoo? Or that bottle of Nivea, Jergens, Aveeno, even Philosophy (a higher priced) lotion on your newly washed strands? I will never forget the day I figured this out, I was lying by the pool reading my notes of the newest formulations and a cosmetic chemist reference manual together. It felt like a ton of bricks fell on my chest - it was that jarring to me.

sb10068920r-003

Well, they are made the exact same way, with the exact same water & oil Emulsion formulation. Mixing water + oil with an emulsifier and coming up with an Emulsion, no matter whether it has a Label plastered on the bottle that says it is HAIR CONDITIONER or BODY LOTION - - - - IT'S THE EXACT SAME THING!

Of course there are modifications made to make one thinner and one thicker but that is only a matter of adjusting the water to oil ratio, and does nothing to the fact that the way they are made is exactly the same and Lotion is not how your hair will flourish. So, besides the fact that Sulfate based Shampoos are causing hair-loss and thinning. Crappie emulsions the huge manufacturers make are clogging up the pores in your scalp which is restricting "new" hair growth. HHHHHHelp.

Please think about this, please give this method a try . . . see what your hair feels like without that goopy daily Conditioner on your hair, it has to do with shampoo manufacturers and the neverending cycle they want you on. Apply their sulfate Shampoos that can scrub the grease off of Garage floors, then apply their Lotion-like Daily Conditioners, which then require their sulfate shampoo's to get the Goop out again, I mean what a living nightmare. None of these steps are good for your hair's health or shine and on the opposite side they really promote hair thinning & loss, which I would say most of you don't want.

1525R-3309

That is why everyone gets so excited when they switch to 10,000HEADS, even before they get to the part of THRIVEN & the Secret Supplement, and GLEAM. Just getting rid of that cycle has helped many many people - which I discovered in the Salon when I would rinse people's hair ( no matter how good you are, no matter how many Assistants you have - -you always end up at the shampoo bowl for some reason). That is where I came up with , "OMG - this person doesn't even need a hair conditioner - their hair rinses simply clean out and there are NO tangles. As I've repeatedly said, my own hair is a tangled web of knots after a simple shampoo - - has been since a very early age, color or not. The only thing that helps? Tri-Wheat Spray Detangler . . . and applying Color Touch on my lengths . If you are not a Licensed Hair Stylist, you really have no cause to learn about various hair "types". You concentrate on your own hair and all its little trademarks, but as a Stylist - you must learn about ALL types of hair and trademarks on everyone's hair. Stylists kind of snicker when clients want to go to a Stylist that has their own hair type/texture. That is silly to think we only know how to take care of our own hair type.

We noticed a number of orders going out with the exact same 4-6 ingredients in them, and decided to come up with Killer Kits that would give the purchasers a bit of a discount. We want to reward you for getting what is needed to fully realize the 10,000HEADS method of Hair Care. To start off with this is our newest Kit

Its called the "Go BIG or Go HOME Kit"

THRIVEN : Birth of a Real Hair Conditioner

Holy Grail of Hair : Sometimes an accident is the Best Solution

A recent review from a Killerstrander (who is worthy of the CRIB COLORIST AWARD am thinking of giving out) who recently received my own concoction hair conditioner . . sparked an idea, to tell you all the story I tell my clients that have sat in 'the chair" <> or how the old 1-2 punch of 10,000 HEADS was born.
Here is the most recent review of THRIVEN my Overnight Deep Hair conditioner and 2 part system for damaged and thinning hair, which was the beginning of the 10,000Heads protocol.

Subject: Re: About Thriven
If only everyone could be as thorough, focused, and ethical in their
chosen profession as as Dakota the world would be a much better
place...

Hands down, Thriven is the best conditioner ever to grace MY spoiled
goldilocks. My first reaction when I twisted off the cap and breathed
in the fresh aroma of Thriven to the delicately clingly consistency
was that it was "Alive". And sure enough, I swiped my fingers across
the Cap of Thriven and it covered all of my hair and made it instantly
pliable. IMPRESSIVE! And it smells so great and it doesn't drip! Also,
it feels great after rinsing it out not like other conditioners that
feel great under the water in the shower and then leave hair totally
dry after rinsing.

I laughed at all of my high-end conditioners that basically feel like
clumps of lard being combed through my hair. Bottom line here is that NOTHING else has worked on my hair regardless of price. I have paid exorbitant amounts of money on my hair and it is broken in the back of my head from high end hairdressers frying it off. Which is precisely when I quit the salon except for haircuts and started doing my own hair which is on the road to recovery. Anyway, I forsee Thriven saving me tons of money in conditioners because I will no longer purchase them and the amount of Thriven I need to use is so tiny in comparision to other products. I can't think of one product I have ever used that was a "dime size".

Oh yah, one last thing, my husband is NOt allergic to it and he is
highly allergic to fragrance

I think KC's name should be changed to KGC, Killer Genius Chemist

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
How sweet is that? I've had dozens of compliments and that one encapsulates them all. Thank you Mrs. M.
About 6 years ago, my daughter was struggling with damaged and thinning hair ( at the age of 19-20). At the same time I had just gone thru my radiation treatments and was in the same boat, so within my chemistry studies I started playing - the more I read and studied - the harder it DID NOT SEEM. The light bulbs came from reading about the similarities in hair and skin, I'm sure most of you realize that skin care products are loaded with all sorts of new and creative "actives" "vitamins" and ingredients for moisturizing the skin and replacing lipids lost from sun and age. The moisture loss process in skin, is the exact same moisture loss in hair . . the exact same way, but to date no one was putting any of the slick new tricky skin ingredients in the hair products. The large companies just don't think people notice the difference in hair conditioners, and I do not understand why. I believe there are thousands of people just like Mrs. M who buy and continue to buy hair conditioners up the YING-YANG in search of one that works, I used to do the same thing and I'm on the "inside". Being just one little person out here in California trying to solve the above described hair conditioning problem for myself and my daughter, why in the world can't the big companies with all their chemists do it? Which is why I went on the mission in the first place.
By having some of the more expensive ingredients in the formulation of THRIVEN it only made sense after about a month that it needed to be left on the head and hair for more than 30 or 60 minutes. The top-of-the-line face creams are put on for 8 hours at night, and hair is the same make-up as skin. That was my **BREAKTHROUGH**I wanted to start treating hair more like skin, as good as skin. We don't think twice about a $30.-$40.-$50. cream for our face, then a $20. Wash and a $10.Toner then a $40. foundation makeup with vitamins and mineral makeup for $40. and on and on and on. Most don't spend a fraction of that on their hair. RIDICULOUS I say....totally ridiculous.
BE FAIR TO YOUR HAIR AND SHARE THE $$$..If you want your hair to be healthy you must consider this theory, it has worked for most all of my clients out here. I'm a healthy hair fanatic, I turn hair down to color if it is over colored, damaged or not ready...its rare to find Stylists that will do that.
I truly care about your hair, its just IN me, to.
A couple months after we first applied THRIVEN we went to the slumber party method. Applying it overnight and letting the hairs enjoy themselves ;-). Once we began the Slumber method of application, our hair began to change. Both my daughter and I had put our hair through Hell, hers was every color on the color Wheel, putting 'black' in against my judgement and needing it cut out, my main issue was all the drugs, radiation and surgeries I had just gone thru. We both started to notice changes with damage and tangling and frizz.
My daughter has a husband who is a Stunt Man (big surprise) and he has lots of professional athletes around him as a result. They had a group of Olympic athletes staying with them and the athletes had heard the problem of my daughter not eating breakfast her whole life. She's a beautiful, very thin blond, funny, Malibu surfer, movie producer (now 26) and not eating the best meal of the day just was not a wise move on her part, especially with the hair issues and trying to resolve them. The athletes made a suggestion to her to begin eating breakfast by taking this particular supplement that is available at Target (even) , every day, which is the last half of the 1-2 punch.
At this point I knew nothing about this.
She came to get her hair done 6 weeks after this and I nearly dropped my drawers. WHAT IN THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOUR HAIR ? ? I think were my exact words. Her hair looked like it did when she was 12 . Long, thick, gorgeous, it was the single best turn-a-round in hair I had ever seen. Truly remarkable.
After discussing everything we had been thru with THRIVEN and then adding this new supplement...we decided it was the combo of the 2 and WHAMM BAMM, BINGO . . . .
THE MAGIC MIRACLE <> THRIVEN <> WAS BORN.
I don't think she bought my theory at the time, but the minute she left I ran to Target and got my stash
It took 4 weeks .
My hair did the exact same thing.
I truly felt I had discovered the Holy Grail of Hair.
We were enjoying our yummy delicious hair for quite some time, until all the people sitting in my chair were complaining of hair thinning / loss. One of the most common complaints a hair stylist hears now-a-days, that when I came up with the protocol called 10,000HEADS - Hair STRENGTH System. Taking all the experience from working on over 10,000Heads of hair over the years, the chemistry knowledge and then the THRIVEN/Supplement Accident to come up with 12 Steps for 10,000HEADS System.
Step 1: THRIVEN
Step 2: SECRET Supplement ---> both of these are mandatory
sb10063609e-001 the next 10 need to be followed as closely as possible. Do not brush off, please.
> > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Step 3: Nutrition ( 12 points)
Step 4: Shower Filter + Shower Water
Step 5: Smoking (nothing should be smoked for healthy hair)
Step 6: Hair Color
  • must be professional or best color one can afford.
  • NO BOX HAIR COLOR KITS (other ways to go cheap)
  • the blog is here to teach you this step, no excuse
Step 7: Shampoo - SLS-Free - buy the best you can afford
{remember how much you spend on make-up}
Step 8: Stress -this includes getting rid of all electrical devices and walking in the sand or dirt or grass ALONE. . . all alone. No IPOD. No phone, no nothing. Un-stress your life, please. This is mandatory 40 minutes per day 3-4 days per week.
Step 9: Drugs / Alcohol -- None to Social if need be. I know there are lots of younger people...but I have had a group of pro surfers quit their drinking as they came to me with tears in their eyes about their hair loss. We reviewed everything and they were doing the normal for that age and group : smokin and drinkin. I had them quit and take up YOGA. It cured 2 out of 5 + improved one other guy.I felt that was significant. If you are testing your triggers, to try to figure out what your is, quit drinking for 90 days, that seems to be about the shortest you can get away with for testing "triggers" longer is better but you should be able to make an honest truthful guess.
Step 10: Hair Tools . Limit the use of all Hot electrical tools. Flat Iron, Blow Dryer, curling iron, etc.. Especially the flat Iron.
Step 11: Yoga and Exercise
Step 12: Water . Drink at least one Liter per day. Every single dayvortex.jpg.
Take care of your hair FIRST . . . boys & girls.

Slather Those Strands: For Those Who Require Lots 'o Lipids

Killer Kritiques  #001

sb10064781n-001

One of the advantages of being on the inside of the professional hair world is listening to dozens of stylists opinions on hair products, which helps when looking for something new. There is no possible way to give every product that comes out a trial run, my Lord, you would have to quit hair and solely test products with the amount that come out every week. I'm sure you all know this, every time you head to the beauty supply there is a whole new slew of "new-innovative products" waiting for you to buy, problem is - without a review of them you are taking a risk..could be a winner, could be a loser and more times than not its the latter.

In my attempt of learning what and how I should roll with this site I periodically go hunting through 'other' beauty blogs. Maybe I hit the wrong ones, I try to hunt & peck randomly I swear, but so many just seem to do nothing but introduce and review products and nothing else, which I am sure gets them tons of new free crap. This week I received my first couple boxes of "new free crap" ( I mean 'crap' in a good way) a sign to me that it was time to start reviewing products as well. I want to be a well rounded, well balanced and well-read web site so we are off and running with the new segment: Killer Critiques.

Hair is a surprisingly large and influential category in the business world, they try to keep it hush--hush, but as a stylist and now with this Blog I am reminded of how big on a daily basis the importance of hair products, hair styles, hair color - all of it is very influential on many aspects of the economy, as lame as that seems. Howard Stern was on Letterman said, "until I have Proctor and Gamble advertising on my program I will never feel like a force to be reckoned with." Even a rebel like Stern yearns for the P & G (hair) dollar, I nearly fell of my chair.

That being said lets head off into the world of product review sassoon_pic_5026_0_sl . . . I have learned over the years  (and used it as one of my killer secrets ) there are 2 categories of hair products that are almost always excellent for all hair, pay attention: and that is products for ethnic & curlie hair

I can almost guarantee you up front, that if you pick a product from those 2 categories it will (almost) always rock. The chemists for those products, formulate  products differently, using a few key ingredients that are moisturizing - reparative and conditioning plus they update their products more frequently as new ingredients are released - when your production is not as large it is not such a huge undertaking to update them, that's why I can say that. So when shopping if the choices are so vast and so confusing, there is a tricky little technique for narrowing down your selection.

Killers first Kritique ? Deva Care's "poo-less" shampoos and curlie haired conditioners. ! This line of products was originally designed for CURLY haired customers and caught on to the sulfate-free deal a long time before the rest of the crowd.

Deva Care: Curly Hair Products ; a Force To Be Reckoned With

deva821SAFJ6Y38L__AA250_

Whether your hair is curly, wavy, straight or chemically processed, this line has expanded and now even contains a wacky looking hair dryer/ diffuser for curly hair . Choose from DevaCurl, DevaColor or DevaCare, and let your hair enjoy the benefits of botanically infused and sulfate-free technology

DevaCurl - Botanically infused, 100% sulfate-free cleansers, conditioners and stylers. Great for all hair types

DevaColor - Botanically infused, 100% sulfate-free and color enhancing cleansers and conditioners. For natural, color treated and chemically processed hair.

DevaCare - Color preservation. Botanically infused, 100% sulfate free, vitamin C enriched cleansers, conditioner and stylers. Great for all hair types.

583251385

Deva’s interchangeable product line allows for individuality, simplicity and the freedom to address your hair’s specific needs.

Americans are addicted to lather ...laundering curly hair (which is what most people are doing with ordinary detergent shampoos) just about guarantees a mass of over-dry, frizzy, shapeless locks.” That’s why Lorraine, along with co-owner Denis daSilva, world-class chemist Ralph Zissel and Devachan’s acclaimed Color Director Shari Harbinger developed the Deva product line. This unique system, with it’s own unique blend of botanically infused moisturizers and cleansers, will rejuvenate, restore and respect your hair’s natural order without the use of harsh chemicals.

Delicate Cy-Curl... No-Poo's gentle rescue formula for frizzy, unmanageable curls, cleans and conditions very dry, damaged hair and scalp. DevaCurl restores your hair to healthy, bouncy curls and healthy bouncy strands, refreshingly scented with Peppermint and Turkish Rose.

New for the line are the conditioners, most specifically the deep one Heaven In HAIR - -  which is awesome....I tried this myself and as the proud owner of TKHFH  {tangle-y knot-ty hair from hell} I knew with the ingredients it had  there was the prospect of smooth hair and it produced exactly what I predicted. Give it a shot if you suffer from the same or have the standard curly frizzy hair that needs moisture.

Damage Control - Save Those Locks

90% of women use hair conditioners -

YET...
75% say their hair is damaged
Come on girls, what's wrong with this picture? Does this show you clearly now... how pointless a daily conditioner is ?

My dream when in the Salon was always to open a HAIR HEALTH SPA. A spa where the one and only concern once you walked in was the health of your hair - not skin, not body...but hair! I've heard of just a couple in the whole United States, just like spa's take care of skin, salons should take care of hair. Hair needs to be analyzed, deciphered and given an RX so the client learns how to take care of it the proper way. I have spent my entire career teaching my clients what I know about taking care of their hair and I seem to be the only one doing it. When I get new clients that come to me from other stylists they have never heard of any of my advice or knowledge, it blows me away. So I hope to impart on the world what I have been teaching my clients for the past 14 years, that works. It really works.

I am in utter amazement 1/2 the time, why am I the only one trying to figure it out?

A stack of surveys notes that 79% of women are on a quest to solve their damage problem, a hefty amount of people in my book.

After spending 2 years learning Cosmetic Chemistry, I came up with what I feel is the one and only deep conditioner that truly does work to repair hair damage: THRIVEN.

After running tests and surveying Clients opinions for 2 years I am confidant in recommending it as a solution not just a cover-up to damaged hair. No, it does not take a completely dead, lifeless & destroyed hair and give it life, that is not possible. There is a line, a line where the hair can be helped - I've argued to within an inch of my life with chemists that don't agree with me...its hard to define in 'words', I can tell you the minute I feel and look at the hair...which is what makes dealing with hair "online" the most difficult for me. So much of it is visual and in 'touch' and I never realized how much until I took this on. When I feel hair I can tell you whether it can be revived or not...you can feel 'life' in it or not.

What THRIVEN does help, is hair that is:

  • malnourished

  • damaged

  • over-processed

  • lifeless

  • dry split ends

  • fragile

  • frizzy

  • kinky

  • over flat ironed

  • dull

  • not growing

An 8 ounce jar is $50.00, it can be purchased from Killerstrands through PAY PAL, by sending an email to Killerstrands@gmail.com and placing "PRODUCT ORDER" in the subject space. I don't recommend anything I do not fully believe in, have not tested through my "own" research & lab work and most importantly the results I gained from the over 10,000 heads of hair that have sat in my chair .

I have witnessed this conditioner give shine and luster to hair with none - over and over. If you have any of the above problems and apply this conditioner (at least) 1-2 times a week using the "slumber" method, ------> 'sleep' with it in

It will begin to be repaired.

Watch the magic.

* * * * * * * * * I've been asked about the ingredients of THRIVEN. . . if I was being thorough, I would have posted them up-front, my sincere apologies * * * * * * * * * *

ITS ALL IN THE INGREDIENTS , MY DEAR

A CUTICLE SAVED

Lets start the weekly series off with something I have not done....something plastered on every single website you hit:

Support and promote a new product line !

I have a very hard time finding one that cares for the hair the way I think it should.. I stumbled across (although-not personally tried yet) a line of new products for curly - frizzy hair that show tremendous promise - how do I make that assumption without using them ?

As chemist's do:

Exclusively by: THE INGREDIENT LIST

Its rare that I find products that reach my expectations for hair, coming from different specialties. Many think my expectations are ridiculously high, but I have worked with over 10,000 heads of hair...I know the repurcussions of products with lousy ingredients. Manufacturers of products use 100 or 200 heads to make their products, that doesn't compare with the amount of heads of hair I have seen and watched over for at least 10 years.

Aveda has introduced a shampoo they claim reduces frizz and unwanted wave by mimiking the natural cuticle. ( With the ingredients they use they have a great shot at it).

S M O O T H INFUSION

S H A M P O O

Daily cleansing smooths and softens hair up to 60%.

L I G H T Elements Smoothing F L U I D

the products are formulated with the company's plant infusion which includes aloe, maize and guar bean. The infusion is said to leave a deposit on damaged hair that restores the cuticle, mimics the nature of the cuticle and creates a foundation for smooth hair .

All of products use a number of ingredients I use in THRIVEN the Deep Hair condtioner that is a part of 10,000HEADS my 10 step STRONG HEALTHY HAIR Protocol, which I commend them for.

There are thousands of great ingredients out there, it just baffles me as to why none of these companies use them . . . . now I have found one company maybe I can refer to a lot in the future. here is a very accurate little vidoe clip of what we hear as hair stylists out of the mouths of "curlies"...check it out.

SLUMBER PARTY FOR THE STRANDS

FIRST AID THAT DOES NOTHING BUT WORK ON THE GROWTH OF HAIR.

The one trick to rejuvenating hair which provides extraordinary growth, is with a conditioner... but,

not a daily one.

What makes a hair conditioner work? Do they work?

Personally, I feel the daily conditioner should be axed - - totally.

9 out of 10 people want to know what to use to help their hair grow..... One of my Top 10 Answers?

Deep Overnight Conditioner.

Ask every female you know if they use hair conditioner, the result will be a resounding, yes...on the other hand take another poll ask how many of them have dry, damaged hair and feel they need better conditioning the numbers would hover around 75%-80%, ironically.

Its silly, like most things in the hair world.

I have a completely different theory on the whole daily shampoo trip and its nothing like they do back on the ranch. Sorry. But it works and it works well.

My theory half of Malibu uses:

  • Shampoo with a sulfate-free shampoo ( no ALS no SLS ) shampoo once and rinse a minute longer than you think is necessary.

  • If you don't have hair that is a tangled mess at this point, thank your lucky stars and skip this step. If you are like me and have a tangle-wangle nightmare, spray detangler or leave-in spray conditioner after the shower...coat just enough to get the brush through.

  • Here is the twist <> you must find yourself a great deep conditioner or you can use just about anything > the turbo-treatment result comes from the length of time its on the hair. Once a week - every Sunday for me & many of my clients you take a bath, do all the weekly goodies shampoo - rinse and then after you are out of the shower you plaster your hair with the conditioner. Make sure it is at least an hour before bed - giving the goop time to dry ( hit with hair dryer a few times the heat helps the conditioner soak in deeper).Place towel on pillow, sleep. Serious cases use heating pad on low on/under towel, in the AM rinse hair out in sink - style and enjoy a yummy day of luscious locks.

The difference? No daily conditioning which has sparked a whole new problem of "gunked up hair" that needs DETOXING. Who the hell heard of detoxing your hair, the result of useless conditioner build-up and lousy shower water - nationwide.

Bull Semen hits Salon Treatments to Tune of $170. a POP!

After a little more thought....it occured to me . . . who was that person that was sitting around and said, .........
"Hey, if we jerk a bull off, maybe it will help the health of hair", then I looked up who this "Hari Salem" cat was and sure enough...it was a dude! No offense - just funny and logical, I always wonder 'where' things come from it is a habit ingrained in me.

Being a woman, being a cosmetic chemist and a woman, my speciality is HAIR CONDITIONERS, that is where all my research was -- is -- and will be in the future. In the 4 years I have been formulating hair conditioners, I study every new ingredient that comes out that can be added to the formula's each and every month & trust me there are way too many. So to come up with Bull Semen is hilarious to me, I thought > 'hey, I never saw that listed in the Cosmetics & Technology Magazine ("New Hair Formula ingredients" ) I read cover to cover every month' - what on earth would possess someone to reach for that jar on the shelf when formulating a hair conditioner?! Of course, a horny guy !

Many people do not understand this... but a Cosmetic Chemist is the one that designs every hair care and every Cosmetic product you have ever touched...not a Dermatologist....not a Celebrity.....and not even a big shot Hair Stylist.
NONE OF THE ABOVE creates that product that eventually goes on your body and/or hair, plus they would have absolutely NO idea how to begin, what to use, or where to start, ....none - zip- zero.
A Cosmetic Chemist does it for them.

Be very very glad they do, to be one you need to learn light years more than what you pick up in acting or Cosmetology schools...and the Dermatologists have a whole profession to cover their butt so they don't have to know what goes "in" products ( they are called a Pharmacist) - so medical doctors are not what you want to look for as afar as their expertise in skin or hair products - I promise you I know more than that damn Dr. Perricone. He uses something that is so wrong in his face lotions/creams and I know its only because he has no idea what each ingredient is...otherwise he would not have 2 of the ingredients he has in them.

Until I took 2 years out of my life and studied Cosmetic chemistry , I had absolutely NO IDEA the art even existed and believe me... it is an Art ! Not only a beautiful art but also a scientific one, something completely new to me at the time.
Not only do we chose the ingredients to put in the product ( which sounds all fun and games) but more importantly we are making sure the product is sufficiently preserved as well as adequately balanced so the pH level is perfect and protecting the effectiveness of the "active" ingredients - - all of this under the umbrella of 'formulating personal care products". When i started and listened to the words everyone was using...I was positive I would never be able to understand what they were all talking about...the terms- the technology- it all sounded like Japanese to me, this was all way over my head back in School and I would never be able to learn it now.

I pushed on though... I started to read a lot about the chemistry of hair products, and that became my passion... making one hair conditioner after another, those and body cremes, {they are similar products in their make-up and chemistry}....I began making custom hair conditioners & cremes for my regular clients.

I knew their hair so well I would make a batch of hair conditioner up for a year at a time, yes it was a bit pricey - but they all claim it was worth every last penny! I never lacked for people to make them for, it was all I could do - to formulate and cut & color hair.
Ever had a homemade Cake or Pie...from scratch....?
How yummy and flavorful they are compared to the Markets?
That is the exact difference in Killer Strands conditioners and the store bought ones - Light years better.
People that are hooked on them will never use a store bought one again!

I feel strongly that a lot can be done for hair with conditioners, especially the "overnight" models which I would like to explain. My theory on hair care is not exactly what the big manufactures want to hear,
oh well!
I just do not agree that everyone needs a daily 'conditioner, shampoos have so much in them anymore they are sufficient..
a problem we see in the Salon a lot is "build-up"
  • product build-up
  • mineral build-up (chlorine,rust etc. from water)
  • conditioner build-up

To elminate that problem I feel the hair care protocol for the average client is this:

Shampoo: Sulfate-free..... and then ONLY IF your hair is dry and tangly -

Detangler: a spray detangler for easy comb thru

Conditioner : Once a week an overnight conditioner - shampoo-rinse - apply deep conditioner - comb thru (mine is called:Thriven) let it dry for 1 hour prior to going to bed - lay towel on pillow to protect. Sleep 8 hours letting yummy ingredients soak in hair and scalp.. Rinse in morning. Depending on condition of hair this can be done once/twice a week....or once - twice a month....even.

"More" is not always better !

P.S.
I have had requests for 'Thriven' my overnight Hair Conditioner -- from some of you . . . I am going to be using Pay Pal to apply BUY NOW buttons directly to this Blog, ( apparently that can be done??!!) some of the unique products I talk about need to be made available I guess.
I have a fantastic line of hair care for curly and frizzy hair that is my own little secret..I will be bringing that to you as well as soon as I figure out how to make HTML buttons!
